Při měření parametrů motorových vozidel je možné se setkat se situací, že je vyžadováno, aby v průběhu měřicí procedury zůstávala poloha odpružené hmoty (karoserie, nástavba) ve stálé poloze vůči neodpružené hmotě (kola vozidla). Jedná se např. o měření výškové polohy těžiště vozidla, měření aerodynamických účinků vozidla v aerodynamickém tunelu. Při využití tohoto přípravku je možné nastavovat polohu karoserie v oblasti přední nápravy do potřebné výšky a zachovávat její polohu i při působení proudu vzduchu. Hlavní výhodou je pak možnost porovnávat měřené veličiny s CFD simulacemi, kde změna polohy karoserie při působení proudu vzduchu není zohledněna. Funkční vzorek je navržen pro přední zavěšení MacPherson vozidel koncernu VW. Po odjištění fixace může tlumič fungovat běžným způsobem.

During the measurements of the characteristics of road vehicles, various scenarios demanding the sprung parts of the vehicle (bodywork and extensions) to remain in fixed position relative to the unsprung parts (wheels) in the course of the whole measuring procedure can turn up. These are for example measurements of the height of vehicle centre of gravity, or measurements of aerodynamic characteristics of the vehicle in a wind tunnel. By using this device, it is possible to set the front ride height to a desired value and hold the position even under the aerodynamic load. The main benefit of this is demonstrated in comparisons of the measurements with CFD simulations, where the change of ride height according to aerodynamic load is not implemented. The device is designed for MacPherson front suspension as used in the vehicles of VW Group. After the fixation is released, the shock absorber can work in a normal way.
