Original abstract
This study shows the integration of the pre-design research into the hand tool design development. It describes factual improvement of ergonomic, technological and marketing aspects of new hand tool by comparison with the product formed by the styling process. The paper includes the description of the hand tool development from the definition of its requirements to creation of the physical mock-up. The summary of achieved benefits confirms the effectivity of the extended pre-design research to increase added value of the hand tool design and to improve its competitiveness.

Studie se zabývá integrací přednávrhového výzkumu na design ručního nářadí. Tento postup ukazuje zlepšení návrhu nářadí po ergonomické, technologické a marketingové stránce ve srovnání s produktem vytvořeným bez přednávrhového výzkumu. Článek obsahuje popis vývoje ručního nářadí, definice požadavků na tvorbu fyzického modelu. Shrnutí dosažených výhod potvrzuje efektivitu přednávrhového výzkumu ke zvýšení přidané hodnoty designu ručního nářadí a zlepšení konkurenceschopnosti.
