Original abstract
It is shown that the change of toughening mechanism closely relates to the extent of debonding which depends on factors like debonding toughness Gd, particle size, particle volume fraction and the particle yield stress. A theoretical evaluation of the toughness increase is given for a wide range of materials parameters showing a good accordance with experimental values.
