Original abstract
This paper deals with a simulation modelling of machine tools, which are modelled as mechatronic system with rigid and flexible parts. These models are used for dynamic analysis of the cutting process and behaviour of the whole mechatronic system is analysed. The co-simulation technique is used for this analysis in which the multi-body model of the machine tool in ADAMS is excited and controlled by a model in MATLAB/SIMULINK environment. This model is very important for industrial analyses of machine tools for a prediction of chatter. The unwanted chatter can be eliminated by suitable redesign of the machine tool in the mechatronic model or using an active damping control during machine operation. The co-simulation model can be used for both tasks.
