The contribution describes a study of the behaviour of a fatigue crack growing in a protective layer and penetrating through the interface and into the substrate. The study aims especially to quantify the influence of the interface on the rate and treshold value of a fatigue crack propagating perpendiculary to the interface. Special attention is devoted to the case of a crack touching the interface.
