Original abstract
The spectrum of the eardrum excitation force from the difference of the pressure in front and behind the eardrum is calculated. The eigenvalue problem is solved on the finite element model of the external outer ear canal, the influence of the elasticity of the eardrum and the absorption of the canal walls is considered. The results of mathematical modeling are compared with experimental measurements on human dissections. The calculations support hypothesis of possible influence of external ear canal on the enhancement of hearing sensitivity in frequency range 1 – 4 kHz.
