Original abstract

We study the mathematical model of a maximum flight range problem. Using Pontryagin's maximum principle we derive the feasible values of the optimal control and reduce the optimal control problem to a nonlinear programming problem. Some aspects of the numerical solution of this problem are discussed as well.
