Original abstract

Modeling of a new equipment for the thermal treatment of volatile organic compounds contained in polluted air is an efficient computational tool contributing to a better design and operation. This compact and fully integrated equipment consists of a heat exchanger and a combustion chamber placed inside the exchanger / polluted air preheater. Principle, description and basic parameters of research facility are shown as well as measured parameters important for an experimental validation. Simulation based on three-dimensional CFD modeling using the commercial system FLUENT allows us to obtain and view grids, contours, profiles, velocity vectors and pathlines of solved variables velocity, pressure, temperature, concentration of species etc. A comparison of measured and calculated values is shown and discussed. Results of simulation are used for an improved design.
