Original abstract

Electrophoretic deposition of mono-phase and two-phase (layered) alumina and zirconia ceramics was studied. Anisotropy of indentation crack length of mono-phase ceramics was found. Crack length in direction parallel with direction of deposition of ceramics particles was lower than in perpendicular direction. Anisotropy of indentation crack length of mono-phase ceramics was reduced by deposition of materials by layers technique. Crack deflection on interface of alumina and zirconia in two-phase layered composite was found
