Original abstract

It was found that, by sand casting of AlSi9Cu3 alloy is documented big amount of cast defects as pores, voids and microshrinkages. The existence of casting defects has considerable influence on fatigue behaviour and served as nucleation places of fatigue damage. Apart from cast defects the morphology and the size of eutectic silicon and of secondary phases are important factors aspect the fatigue properties of Al-Si cast components. The solution treatment temperature 525 C and holding time 4 hours caused the change of Si-morphology and reduction iron rich phases.
