Original abstract
This work presents an attemp to demonstrate the ability of investment casting technology to be one of the most progressive technologies of manufacturing "net-shape" castings for the third millenium. The main focus in the paper is given to the latest trends in material and equipment used in all individual phases of the process, i.e. in manufacturing of wax patterns and ceramic shells, dewaxing process, shell heat treatment, metal pouring process and finishing operations. The last part of the paper should be devoted to the demonstration of investment casting process capabilities for manufacturing very complex and accurate parts originally made by using different technologies to investment casting.

Práce představuje pokus o demonstraci schopností technologie vytavitelného modelu pro výrobu součástí s vysokou přidanou hodnotou s konečným tvarem (net shape). Je uvedena stručná historie technologie a popis nejnovějších trendů v zařízení a materiálech používaných v současné době. Důležitou částí prezentace je popis schopností technologie zhotovit odlitky v nejvyšší možné kategorii z hlediska dosahovaných rozměrových tolerancí. Jsou shrnuty dlouholeté výzkumné výsledky v této oblasti, které byly prováděny ve slévárnách ČR za koordinace odboru slévárenství ÚST.
