Original abstract
The arcticle focuses on computational modelling of a flow pattern as generated by a radial jet. The jet features considered in the article are: velocity decay along the jet centreline, jet spreading rate, and velocity profile across the jet in the fully developed region. Velocity distribution in the axially induced flow has also been investigated. The axially induced flow is vital to the reinforced exhaust system operation as it makes use of the radial jet to increase its suction effect. The reinforced exhaust system is based on combination of both exhaust and supply (jet) flow. The induced flow is examined considering the initial turbulence intensity in the jet and the jet initial velocity profile. Another parameter of interest was the jet exit width. There have been a number of turbulence models applied to the simulations as well. The results of the computational modelling were compared with that of experiments or available theoretical equations.
