Original abstract

The semi-empirical model for source term correction to the existing combustion progress variable model is presented. The model is based on correlations from ignition time delay experiments which are used to calculate the reaction rate for methane. The original progress variable model overpredicted the methane reactions for temperatures lower than 1400 K. The new model provides better description of the reaction rate resulting in a better prediction of the given flame. The model was validated against data from the turbulent partially premixed flame with recirculation of hot products. The results proved the improvement in the concentration profiles as well as the possibility to use this cheap and simple model for computations of the effective low--temperature reaction rates of other fuels to which the ignition time delay data are available.
