Original abstract
The paper deals with the influence of protective equipment for medical staff on the heat balance of the human body. Close attention is paid to actively ventilated hoods with filter units, which eliminate the problem of water vapour impermeability, but at the same time careful airflow control is required to eliminate thermal discomfort of the head, face and shoulders. Furthermore, the properties of protective overalls in combination with protective gloves and their effect on the thermal balance of sected parts of the body (palms, forearms, etc.) are discussed as well. The experiments were performed using a Newton thermal manikin in the climatic chamber of Brno University of Technology. The thermal and evaporation resistances were determined for all operating settings of the studied protective equipment.
