Original abstract

This paper deals with the study of high-strength Maraging steel produced using the Selective Laser Melting (SLM) 3D printing method. These steels can achieve high mechanical properties after heat treatment. Heat treatment consists of solution annealing with rapid cooling and subsequent precipitation hardening of martensitic steel. Furthermore, the mechanical properties of the material, especially the compressive yield strength, were studied. The compression test revealed that the compressive yield strength (1198 MPa) was achieved directly after the printed without any additional heat treatment. The microstructure of the samples was examined using a light and electron microscope, which showed a typical structure formed during the SLM method. The microstructure of selected sample was examined in detail. Oxides of titanium and aluminium were found using electron microscopy (SEM).
