Original abstract

Demand on efficient resource management is increasing. Digestate from biogas plants is a rich source of nutrients. However, technology for nutrient recovery is very costly which hinders its wider application. A process for nutrients recovery involving evaporation, stripping and struvite precipitation was designed with respect to crucial parameters affecting profitability of such project. The process provides recovery of the elementary nutrients N, P, K and water. Although the process needs specific conditions to be profitable, the proposed process layout can help to make these conditions less restrictive.
