Original abstract

Hot rolling process involves significant heating of work roll and its degradation. Cooling of work roll in blooming line was studied using laboratory measurements of heat transfer. The obtained results were used in numerical simulation of hot rolling process to study the temperature distribution in work roll. The temperature of the work roll was used to compute the thermal deformation and stress analysis. The obtained results for various nozzle orientations are compared and presented. The results will help to understand the roll degradation process.
