Original abstract
Gasification is one of the promising alternative technologies for heat and electricity production from renewable and alternative fuels. However, tar and dust present in the gas do not enable the direct utilization. Known cleaning technologies used in well-known industrial applications (coal gasification) are not suitable and acceptable due to the high investment costs and the loss of process efficiency. This work describes particularly mobile pilot plant wet scrubber with gas flow 2–5 m3n·h−1) coupled with a fluidized bed gasifier (100 kWth) and pyrolysis unit (200 kW). Scrubber is consisted of four independent columns. Water and organic liquid in the form of rapeseed oil methyl ester (RME) are used as the scrubbing liquids. Various scrubbing operating conditions were designed such as scrubbing temperature and scrubbing liquid flow rate. Suitability of these was validated in the experiments. The gas composition, the tar and dust contents were measured at inlet and outlet of mobile scrubber at different operating parameters. Mainly the tar and dust removal efficiency were determinated at different operating parameters. Under the optimized conditions of scrubbing (temperature, gas flow and scrubbing liquid flow rate) high efficiencies of the tar and the dust removal were found.
