The mathematical model is presented by a methodical procedure and software tools for solving the flow around the parachute canopy. It allows the solution of both static cases, i.e. aerostatic equilibrium forces on a defined canopy shape, which is modelled using 3D CAD software CATIA and followed by the solution of the flow field in Ansys Fluent software, and dynamic phenomena, i.e. canopy deformation during the inflation process. These phenomena are solved using LS-Dyna software to solve the interaction between the liquid and solid phase. Top results are achieved, material characteristics, which were obtained by extensive measurements in the BUT laboratory, are implemented. The model is further supplemented by our own programs created in the Matlab environment, which allow us to analyze shocks from the results of free flight tests, predict limits and extract the coefficients of resistance of individual types of canopies.
