Original abstract

The goal of this project is to replace cooling done using laminar nozzles 16 mm in diameter (laminar cooling) by new spray cooling. The laminar cooling is reported by POSCO as too intensive and the cooling intensity as too much dependent on surface temperature of steel. The present final temperature after 6 m of cooling is reported as below 200 °C. The goal is to obtain good controllability and the final temperature should be from 200 °C to 600 °C for starting temperature 900 °C

Zpráva shrnuje výzkum nahrazení chlazení pomocí laminárních vodních proudů za ploché vodní paprsky z velkých vzdáleností v průběhu kontinuálního tepelného zpracování. Byly zkoumány různé úhly vodních paprsků, velikostí trysek, počet řad. Získané výsledky byly použity pro numerické simulace chlazení při tepelném zpracování a jsou prezentovány výhody a nevýhody využití plochých vodních paprsků. ang: This report summarizes research of replacement of cooling using laminar water jets by flat jet water sprays from big distances during in-line heat treatment. Various spray angles, nozzle sizes, number of rows were investigated. Obtained results were used for numerical simulation of cooling during heat treatment to see the advantages and disadvantages of usages of flat jet water sprays.
