Original abstract

The calculation of comfort zone diagram is base on total thermal resistance of clothing on defined parts of manikin body. The author presents results of the measurements of the total thermal resistances of three different clothing sets (Summer light, Summer and Winter light) to obtain relevant comfort zone diagrams. The measurement of each clothing set was carried out four times, using thermal manikin Newton with constant skin temperature 34 C which was placed in the climate chamber with temperature of 24 C. The comfort zone diagram for each clothing set was then calculated for mean and -1.5 sigma and +1.5 sigma values of total clothing thermal resistances. The variance of zone equivalent temperatures (which creates borders between diagram zones) was then studied. Highest variance of zone equivalent temperatures was observed on the body parts with high insulation or overlapping clothing.
