As part of its successful partnership with the Cracow University of Technology, Brno University of Technology has decided to strengthens the existing cooperation. On Wednesday 18 January the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering signed a framework agreement on international cooperation in the implementation of doctoral studies with joint supervision.
The doctoral student will thus receive two thesis supervisors, one from the BUT and the other from CUT. The first student in this program is Sheng Zhang, who is doing his research as part of the RESHeat project. This is the first agreement of this type signed by the BUT in the framework of international cooperation. The main representatives at the meeting were Iveta Šimberová, BUT Vice-Rector for Internationalisation, and Dariusz Bogdal, CUT Vice-Rector for Research.
The day before, CUT representatives visited the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering. The discussion revealed a number of areas where there is potential for R&D cooperation and common education (e.g. internships for PhD students). The visit also included a tour of two laboratories: the fluid engineering laboratory, where the visitors were guided by the head of the department, Pavel Rudolf, who introduced them to the activities of his research team, including the CaviPlasma project. The second laboratory was the Aircraft testing laboratory, where the guests were guided by the Dean Jiří Hlinka, who is himself a researcher in the field of aviation.
