Our primary research aims at providing the elemental analysis of investigated samples. This feature is beneficially used in the elemental and molecular mapping enabling valuable perspective in the understanding of the material itself, ranging from geological to biological samples.
Our team has long-term experience in the development of optical devices and their integration into larger analytical setups, including the development of laser sources, spectrometers, and other advanced optical devices. The capacities and knowledge of the team are mainly focused on the optical and optomechanical design itself and associated electrotechnical work (development of control electronics, delay/pulse generator). The laboratory is directly or through cooperation with the startup Lightigo, a part of several important research and application projects, including space-grade systems.
Research is carried out mainly in the following areas:
1) Fundamentals and characterization of laser-induced plasma
2) Developing methodology for correlative microscopy and imaging
3) Implementing LIBS to clinical research and analysis of bio-samples
4) Industrial applications, from geology to battery industry
5) development of lasers and advanced optical systems
6) integration of space-grade optical and spectroscopic payloads
7) Advanced data processing, machine learning
