Artificial intelligence methods and algorithms and machines learnings are adopted and investigated for various applications:
-
Solution of inverse heat transfer problems – inverse identification of thermophysical properties of materials, boundary conditions, and the behaviour of thermal systems.
-
Optimized design of extended heat transfer surfaces and heat exchangers.
-
Integration of AI and machine learning in experimental analysis and data processing and extracting insights from complex phenomena.
-
Diagnostics, predictive maintenance and lifetime prediction of hydropower machinery.
-
Characterization of the nozzle sprays.
Further information is available on the websites of individual laboratories:
- Laboratory of numerical simulations
The laboratory focuses on research, development and testing of numerically solved mathematical models in the field of energy engineering. Within the laboratory, we focus on modelling processes combining fluid flow, thermodynamic and mechanical processes, streamlining computational times, topological optimisations, statistical modelling and artificial intelligence. We perform both evaluations and designs of new systems. The laboratory includes a number of simulation software and computer equipment. More information here. - Multiphase flow laboratory
The workplace has 25 year hands-on experience in the field of multiphase flows with focuse to various multiphase flow problems. It runs a laboratory unique to the Czech Republic that is equipped competitively with other top laboratories across Europe. The typical application lies in research and diagnostics of atomizers for energy industry, combustion chambers of gas turbine engines, gas cleaning (desulphurization, CCS), cooling in metallurgic processes, combustion of waste fuels, pharmaceutical industry and air humidification.
