Course detail

Production Technology II

FSI-3VT Acad. year: 2025/2026 Winter semester

The course is designed to introduce students to the basic theoretical knowledge in the field of machining and the process of component manufacturing and their application in practical exercises. Practical exercises take place at machine and assembly workplaces. Under expert guidance, students work on the lathe, milling machine and assembly workstation. They also learn about basic programming of CNC machines and additive manufacturing – 3D printing. The acquired knowledge is a prerequisite for mastering further education in the field of engineering technology in higher grades.

Learning outcomes of the course unit

Prerequisites

Students are expected to have the knowledge acquired at secondary school.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

The course is completed with classified credit. Participation in the exercises is a condition for the award of classified credit. The classification also includes an assessment of the specific outcomes of the exercises and the final test.

Obligatory attendance in the lessons. An absence can be compensated for by attending a seminar with another group, or by elaboration of substitute tasks. A longer absence may be compensated for via special tasks by the agreement with the teacher.

Language of instruction

Czech

Aims

The aim of the course is to introduce students to the basic knowledge of production technology, to get acquainted with the principles of work in selected basic engineering professions.
The course enables to gain knowledge of terminology and general concepts of machining, measurement and outlining of components, selection of basic conditions for machining and classification of machined materials. Students will gain knowledge of machine tools and their materials and become familiar with the principles of workflow selection in machining technology. They will also learn the basics of 3D printing and CNC machining.
