Learning outcomes of the course unit

Prerequisites

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

Conditions for obtaining credit:

  • active participation in seminars (min. 20 out of 40 points),
  • elaboration of research plan, data collection and analysis or conceptual and preliminary product design (min. 20 out of 40 points),
  • debate associated with the discussion (min. 10 out of 20 points).

 

Lectures: attendance is mandatory and controlled by the teacher.

Exercises: participation is mandatory and controlled by the teacher.

A maximum of two absences are allowed in total. In case of long-term absence, compensation for missed classes is in the competence of the subject guarantor.

  • Methodology of science and scientific method.

  • Explanatory scientific methods.

  • Methods of statistical analysis.


Development diploma thesis:



  • Products and goods.

  • Product development process and its participants.

  • Prescriptive model of the design process.

  • Conceptual phase of research.

  • Research planning.

  • Empirical and analytical phase of research.


Development diploma thesis:



  • Problem definition (customer requirements specification).

  • Conceptual design (parameter specification).

  • Preliminary design (determination of shapes, dimensions and materials).
