Course detail

Power Systems Automation

FSI-VAS Acad. year: 2021/2022 Summer semester

The course familiarises students with process equipment of heat power plants, nuclear power plants, water power plants, and with their control concepts. Primary and secondary control of electric power system and cooperation principle of many sources joined in one system are explained too. Attention is drawn to automation of small power sources of electric and thermal energy, including alternative sources.

Learning outcomes of the course unit

Students will acquire knowledge of how to solve complex tasks by means of power engineering. Student will be able to use simulative tools to verify regulations.

Prerequisites

Students are expected to have knowledge of automatic control.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

The course is taught through lectures explaining the basic principles and theory of the discipline. Teaching is suplemented by practical laboratory work.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

Course-unit credit requirements: participation in seminars. Examination requirements: written exam with 10 answers related to the topics of the course.

Language of instruction

Czech

Aims

Course objective: To acquaint the students with specific problems in automatic control of power stations and to demonstrate the solutions of complicated control tasks.

Specification of controlled education, way of implementation and compensation for absences

Attendance at lectures is recommended, attendance at seminars is required. It is at the teacher’s discretion to decide how to make up for missed seminars.
