Course detail
Helicopters
FSI-OV0 Acad. year: 2021/2022 Winter semester
The aim of the course is to provide students with knowledge about helicopters to such an extent that they understand the function of individual parts of aircraft with a rotating carrier. Attention is focused mainly on aerodynamics of the supporting and balancing rotor, helicopter parts design and their functions, flight performance and stability and controllability. The list should also include an introduction to the basic calculation procedures in the field of aerodynamics, performance and helicopter components.

Learning outcomes of the course unit
Students will acquire knowledge necessary for solving basic computational tasks in the field of helicopter performance and strength of basic airframe parts. They will be able to basically assess the qualities of individual types and will be ready for practical training on a specific type of helicopter.
Prerequisites
Basic knowledge of low speed aerodynamics and basics of flight mechanics , flight performances and properties.
Planned learning activities and teaching methods
The course is taught through lectures explaining the basic principles and theory of the discipline. Exercises are focused on practical topics presented in lectures.
Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes
Students will be evaluated according to the participation and quality of work in computational exercises and according to the level of elaboration of the selected semester work.
Language of instruction
Czech
Aims
The course objective is to provide students with the basic knowledge of aerodynamics and design of structures of helicopters.
Specification of controlled education, way of implementation and compensation for absences
Attendance at lectures is not obligatory. Controlled participation in lessons: Attendance at seminars is obligatory and checked by the teacher.
