Course detail

Steam Turbines

FSI-LPA Acad. year: 2021/2022 Winter semester

The course deepens the knowledge of physical phenomena and processes during transformation of thermal or pressure energy into mechanical energy in thermal turbines gained mainly in the courses Turbomachinery and Thermal Turbines and Turbocompressor. Students will learn to design steam turbine and its components from the determination of basic parameters and conception through the detailed thermodynamic calculation of partial components and determination of the basic dimensions design. Students will learn to combine energy, technical, operational, economic and environmental requirements for construction design.

Department

Learning outcomes of the course unit

Students will learn to choose and design a concept of steam turbine with its auxiliary equipment, to perform thermodynamic calculation including optimization of thermal design with regard to the construction and strength criterions.

Prerequisites

Knowledge from courses Energy Sources and Transformation, Turbomachinery and Thermal Turbines and Turbo-Compressor.
