Course detail

Research and Development Project

FSI-ZKR Acad. year: 2021/2022 Winter semester

The course is focused on team realization of advanced problems during prototype design or research and development project. Emphasis is placed on more advanced way of project based learning in which students are involved in problems identification and finding possible solutions. The presentation of obtained results in the form of technical paper is developed.

Learning outcomes of the course unit

– Ability to work in a team to solve advanced research and development projects.
- Ability to identify key problems and propose their solution.
- Practical experiences in experiment planning and prototype development.
- Ability to present obtained results in the form of a technical paper.

Prerequisites

– knowledge of machine design, solid mechanics and material science, finite element methods, 3D parametric modelling.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

Computer-assisted exercise, Laboratory exercise

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

Conditions for obtaining credit:
- active participation in exercises,
- submission of a complete project in digital form (CAD data, technical report, drawing documentation, poster A1 in pptx and PDF format for printing, presentation in pptx) and in printed form
(technical report, drawing documentation).
- submission of a technical paper in digital (docx) and printed version.
Examination conditions:
- successful defence of the project before the committee (it takes place in a team and is a prerequisite for passing the second part of the exam),
- Successful completion of an individual discussion in front of the committee (the key to success is sharing knowledge about the project solution among all team members), the overall grade is based on
the assessment in both parts of the exam. In total, up to 100 points can be earned, the resulting classification is determined by the ECTS scale.
