Course detail

Applied Electronics and Electric Actuators

FSI-VAP Acad. year: 2021/2022 Summer semester

The course is focused on specific issues focused on the use of electronics and electric drives for the purposes of automatic control and informatics. These are mainly passive electronic components, discrete semiconductor components, operational amplifiers, integrated circuits for digital technology, DC voltage sources and electronic circuits for automation. The issue of electric drives is also addressed with emphasis on mechanics, energy and losses of electric drives. Special attention is paid to the control of electric drives and the analysis of control systems. There is also a description and analysis of the properties of individual drives, such as drives with DC motors, asynchronous motors, synchronous and even special types of electric drives.

Learning outcomes of the course unit

In the sense of the mentioned annotation and syllabus, the student will gain extensive comprehensive knowledge in the field of electronics and electric drives, which will enable him to eruditely engage in the solution of various technical problems in industrial engineering and electrical engineering practice.

Prerequisites

Knowledge of mathematics, physics, electrical engineering, mechanics, basics of automatic control, computer hardware and modeling is assumed, at the level of university courses completed so far.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

The course is taught in the form of lectures, which are an explanation of the basic principles and theory of the discipline. Teaching is complemented by laboratory exercises, where the theoretical knowledge gained from lectures is practically verified. Where possible, lectures will be organized for practitioners and field trips to companies dealing with activities related to the subject matter.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

The course consists of exercises and lectures. Exercises are compulsory. Exercise is completed by credit (awarded in the 13th week). To obtain it, 100% attendance at seminars, activity at seminars and elaboration and submission of protocols from all prescribed laboratory exercises are required. Further details are given at the beginning of the semester.
The exam is written and oral. The evaluation of the test result is given by the ECTS grading scale.
