Introduction to Design of Scientific Instruments

FSI-TKK Acad. year: 2021/2022 Winter semester

Introduction to Design of Scientific Instruments gives a basic overview of mechanical design for optical devices. Students are introduced into the computer design of mechanical systems particularly.

Learning outcomes of the course unit

Students will acquire skills in technical drawing. They will acquire knowledge of basic machine parts, normed parts, and construction materials. In addition, they are familiar with the static design of structural components for optical systems.

Prerequisites

Fundamentals of mathematics and geometry

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

The course is taught through lectures explaining the basic principles and theory of the discipline. Exercises are focused on practical topics presented in lectures.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

Student designs optical system. A short report will be classified.
