Course detail

Mechanical Processes

FSI-KMP Acad. year: 2021/2022 Summer semester

The course is concerned with the following topics: mechanical manipulation and storage of loose material. Calculation of geometrical and physical properties of loose material and the state of stress. Main dimension of apparatus and unit operations (crushing, milling, classification, mixing of particles, storage, granulation and transport of loose materials).

Learning outcomes of the course unit

Fundamental properties of loose materials. Some raw materials and products are in loose and granular form. Fundamental principles of machines used for working loose material. Acquired knowledge can be used for calculation of main dimensions of equipment used in such plants.

Prerequisites

Basic knowledge of mathematics and physics.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

The course is taught through lectures explaining the basic principles and theory of the discipline. Exercises are focused on practical topics presented in lectures.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

Course-unit credit requirements: Active participation in seminars. Examination consists of written and oral parts.

Language of instruction

Czech

Aims

The course objective is to make students familiar with fundamental properties of solid particles, shape of particles, specific area, sphericity, porosity and stress analysis as well as classification and sizing of granular material,,crushing, grinding and milling of particles.
Agglomeration. Short distance transport. Mixing, dosing and storage of granular material. Fundamental principles of plant units and equipment.
Designing main dimension of equipment.

Specification of controlled education, way of implementation and compensation for absences
