Thousands of visitors came to see Science and Technology Festival from 6 September to 8 September at the Brno Exhibition Centre. For the third time, FME joined this event promoting the activities of universities, scientific and technical institutions and educational organisations. Among the more than forty exhibitors were representatives of MechLab, strojLAB, TU Brno Racing Team and the Institute of Machine and Industrial Design.
MechLab's interactive stand offered visitors a glimpse into the world of mechatronics through educational models that demonstrated the basic principles and applications of this multidisciplinary field. The MachLAB student team presented their projects, such as ARGO – an underwater drone for the Hranice Abyss, or the repair of a narrow-gauge shuttles exhibit for the Technical Museum in Brno.
Students from the Institute of Design had with them a number of demonstrations of student work related to 3D printing, biotribology, space technology, rail transport, acoustics, etc. There were also models of cars from the high school Pneuracer competition. The popular driving simulator from the TU Brno Racing Team is also always popular. It faced an onslaught of "small racers" especially during the Friday day, when the festival is usually visited by pupils and students of Brno primary and secondary schools.
The largest science show in Brno, whose main organizer is the Brno Observatory and Planetarium, builds on previous successful years, under the patronage of the Statutory City of Brno and as part of the South Moravian Region Roots for Science project. It is traditionally held on the BVV premises with free admission.
