Student startup Duncal Technologies is finalizing preparations for the launch of its products on the European market. In mid-July, it wants to start selling a wireless game console and loudspeaker for airsoft, paintball and similar sports. Modern add-ons are supposed to significantly improve the gaming experience for gamers, and according to the first reactions from testing, the gaming community has something to look forward to. Young entrepreneurs are now looking for an investor to help them start their business faster.
It started as an idea of four schoolmates. Today, the young company rents offices in the JIC incubator in Brno and launches its first product. The startup Duncal Technologies is targeting organizers of airsoft, paintball and laser games. The young entrepreneurs themselves designed, constructed and, in cooperation with airsoft players, tested their own console and speaker, which, thanks to high-quality wireless technology, can reach a kilometre away and provide players with a better gaming experience.
"We are currently concluding agreements with distributors who have finally decided to sell our product not only in the Czech Republic but also in Europe. We are excited about it, even though it means more work for us, as we have to translate the product documentation for into other languages. Currently, we are planning to offer our product in the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Austria, Germany and Belgium," says Samuel Lipták, who completed his studies at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of the Brno University of Technology in June.
The product, aimed at organizers of sports events, is definitely not a blind shot and young entrepreneurs have everything calculated in advance. "We are looking for an investor who would help us get to the market faster. The production of a single product is quite expensive, so we use the pieces we have now mainly for marketing and our distributors. If we win an investment of three million crowns, we calculate that we would be able to turn it around to about seven to eight million crowns of profit in the first phase," Lipták believes.
Of the original four founders, three have now completed their university studies at BUT and would like to connect their future careers with the startup Duncal Technologies. "If we manage to gain this investment by the end of the summer, we will be able to start working full-time for our startup. If we fail to get the investment, our business plan is built in such a way that it can also function as passive income before we can start doing business fully in a year and a half or two, according to calculations, when the product is established on the market," explains Lipták.
The company is now certifying its products, which it plans to launch on the market in mid-July. The speaker and console set should be sold for the price of about twenty-five thousand crowns, depending on the distributor's margin. Even considering the price, the primary customers are the playgrounds and event organizers rather than individuals. The startup will not directly manufacture the products but has contracted supplier companies to take care of the production. "Our manufacturers are able to supply up to fifty pieces per month without any major problems. The distributor and the gaming community are already passionately awaiting the product, so they are pushing us not to delay the sale," says Lipták with a smile.
He and his colleagues are already starting to work on the development of another product. In addition, Duncal Technologies wants to stay in touch with the university environment and help other commercially interesting student ideas to the market. "People today are very concerned about long-term investing. We solved it by creating our own brand and startup," concludes Lipták.
