Petr, Alexandra, Lukáš, Paulína. These are the names of some of the heroes of the exhibition "From Gearbox to Infinity", prepared by the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of the Brno University of Technology. It shows the stories of students who are researching interesting challenges of our time. Visitors can discover the amazing world of mechanical engineering in the centre of Brno from September 25 to November 3.
Each of the ten panels briefly presents the story of one of the students of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of the Brno University of Technology, who often research in laboratories or work on the development of parts of racing vehicles or aircraft as part of student teams during their studies.
"We intended to show that science recognizes no such thing as a minimum age limit. Those who have the desire, good ideas and enthusiasm for work can get involved in interesting research during their studies with us," says the author of the exhibition, Kateřina Růžičková from the Marketing Department of the faculty, adding that the aim of the exhibition is also to present a wide range of fields that researchers are engaged in at the faculty. Before, visitors to the exhibition would probably not have associated some of the presented topics with mechanical engineering.

Many of the themes presented at the exhibition embrace environmental issues, a challenge that is currently being addressed by a number of scientific teams around the world. "That is why we decided to include the exhibition under the auspices of BUT within the European Week of Sustainable Development," adds Růžičková. For example, Paulína Monková is collaborating on the development of technology for purifying water from microorganisms and chemical residues, while the world champion in motosurfing Lukáš Záhorský has been researching how to adapt a motor surfboard to use more environmentally friendly fuels.
You can see the exhibition "From Gearbox to Infinity" in the centre of Brno from September 25 to October 13 in Moravské náměstí and from October 13 to November 3 in Malinovského náměstí.
