The popular Festival of Science and Technology was again attended by ten thousand visitors this year. The event took place from Friday 8 September to Sunday 10 September at the Brno Exhibition Centre and the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering BUT was also present.
While Friday morning traditionally belonged to school groups, the weekend was already marked by scientifically-minded visitors of different ages. At the exhibition centre, they could visit the stands of more than forty scientific and technical institutions, popular education organisations, academic institutes, universities and private companies. They all prepared interactive demonstrations related to science and technology.
Four teams represented the faculty at the event. Students from TU Brno Racing brought a simulator with them and, as always, there was a long queue for the attractive "test" piloting of the formula. Those with their heads in the clouds could visit the neighbouring Chicken Wings stand, where student aircraft were on display and a radio-controlled flying simulator was available to try out.
Mechlab's stand presented a cross-section of the world of technology, where engineering, electronics and computer science meet, and there was also a programmable LEGO NXT kit. At the adjacent stand, the strojLAB student team presented their activities, including the first generation ARGO submarine, as well as 3D printing products.
