The Brno Observatory and Planetarium presented visitors with the latest models of space objects: the Heliosphere. The Sun model completed the existing trio of Lunalón, Terralón, and Marsmeloun. The public could see the model from July 11 to 17 and then in August.
A ten-meter inflatable ball lit up the evening on Brno's Kraví hora. A model of the Sun called the Heliosphere was prepared by the local observatory and planetarium. BUT graduates Jan Machát and Michal Okleštěk from the VISUALOVE group collaborated on the production, and just like the previous models, this one was also produced by the Brno company Kubíček Factory.
The model was designed with the footage from the Solar Dynamics Observatory, which is currently the most advanced probe observing our day star. To prepare it, it was necessary to compile a total of 84,750 raw images, taken at the end of 2014, with a total volume of 2.6 TB. The method of Miloslav Druckmüller, a Brno mathematician from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at BUT, was used for processing.
