Two memoranda as a basis for cooperation with prestigious American universities were brought about by a business and innovation mission to the USA organized by the Confederation of Industry of the Czech Republic. The delegation went overseas on the occasion of a official visit of the Minister of Transport Martin Kupka, the mission was also attended by the Dean of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering Jiří Hlinka.
The Dean of FME went on the mission with the aim of strengthening cooperation in the fields of automotive and aerospace. "In both fields, our faculty is among the domestic leaders in research and development and we have a lot to offer even in strong international competition. Combining academic and industrial forces will enable us not only to enrich the educational process, but also to contribute to the development of new business opportunities and to the transfer of our research results into practice," said Hlinka. Together with him, Mariana Tesarova, Head of the Internationalisation Department, represented the BUT in the delegation.
The mission visited Atlanta, San Francisco and Detroit. The programme included professional excursions, business meetings and networking events with American partners. BUT brought back two memoranda from the visit as a basis for future cooperation, namely with Georgia Institute of Technology (114th in QS Ranking) and University of Michigan (21st in QS Ranking).
The aim of the mission of the Czech Confederation of Industry and Transport was to strengthen business relations, introduce Czech innovations and seek new opportunities for Czech business. The delegation consisted of 47 participants from Czech companies and institutions.
