On Wednesday, 6 December 2023, this year's Innovation of the Year 2023 Awards were announced by the Association of Innovative Entrepreneurship of the Czech Republic on the occasion of Research Week. 134 innovative products were nominated for this year's 28th edition. The main prize of the Innovation of the Year 2023 competition was awarded to the BUD100 multifunctional grinder, which was also backed by colleagues from FME.

Experts from the Institute of Production Machines, System and Robotics worked on the development of the award-winning technology together with Slovácké strojírny (TOS Čelákovice plant) and CTU in Prague. The award ceremony was attended by a representative of Slovácké strojírny Ladislav Prokopec and Michal Holub from the Institute of Production Machines, Systems and Robotics, FME.

After the Gold Medal of International Engineering Fair Brno 2021 and the Prize of the Engineering Academy of the Czech Republic in 2022, this is another significant award for the results of the team that collaborated on the development of the BUD100 multifunctional grinder. Successful commercialisation of the product is also a condition for the Innovation Award.
