The ever-growing need for technically proficient professionals in the field of manufacturing technology was one of the reasons for organizing an international course focused on investment model technology (Investment Casting). The course, which attracted experts from eleven countries to Brno, was organized from 10 to 16 September by the Department of Foundry Engineering of the Institute of Engineering Technology of the Brno University of Technology.
Colleagues from FSI cooperated on the organization of the event with the European precision casting association EICF (European Investment Casting Federation).
The one-week program was prepared thoroughly including interesting lectures, practical exercises and inspirational excursions to leading Czech companies, such as MCAE, LANIK, PBS Velká Bíteš and AluCAST. Participants not only learned the theory, but also engaged in hands-on activities such as the creation of models and ceramic molds as well as smelting and casting.
The lecturers were top experts from the Institute of Engineering Technology, the Institute of Materials Science and Engineering, the Department of Production Machines, Systems and Robotics as well as external lecturers of foreign companies, including CONSARC, IMERYS, ESI Group and R&R.
At the end of the course, the participants had an opportunity to check their knowledge in a test. Successful graduates received their certificates of completion from the Dean of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Jiří Hlinka Ph.D and the Chairman of the EICF Association, Carlos Olabe.
The course not only enhanced the participants’ knowledge in the field of precision casting, but also provided an opportunity to establish lasting international relationships and opened new doors to innovation and cooperation in the field of manufacturing.
