On Wednesday, 7 June, a gala evening was held in Brno's Besední dům, during which the laureates of the South Moravian Region Award for 2022 were presented with their awards. Among the thirteen honoured was also mathematician Miloslav Druckmüller from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of the BUT for his contribution in the field of science.
The award rewards outstanding merits for the development of the region, heroic and other exceptional acts of personalities who were born in South Moravia, live in the region or are connected with the region by their activities.
Professor Miloslav Druckmüller is a graduate of Mathematics at Masaryk University in Brno. From 1979 to the present he has been working at the Institute of Mathematics, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Brno University of Technology. His main area of scientific and pedagogical interest is numerical methods of image and signal analysis. He is a world-renowned expert in the field of numerical methods of solar corona image processing obtained during total solar eclipses or by space probes.
Another socially significant activity of Professor Druckmüller is his popular science lectures, of which he has delivered hundreds since the 1970s, not only in Brno and its surroundings, but also abroad.
