On 28 November 2022, President of the Republic Miloš Zeman appointed new professors on the proposals of the scientific and artistic councils of universities and on 19 December, Vladimír Balaš, Minister of Education, Youth and Sports, handed over the decrees to them in the Grand Hall of the Karolinum. Five of the academics come from Brno University of Technology, two of them directly from FME.

Miroslav Černý

His research work focuses on solid state theory; ab initio electronic structure calculations; theoretical strength calculations; stability of loaded crystals; the effect of impurity segregation on first-principles grain boundaries; transitive metal nitride multilayers; and vibrational entropy calculations of crystals.

Martin Vrbka

Founded, leads and develops the Biotribology research group at the Department of Tribology, Institute of Structural Engineering. Under his leadership, a number of simulators have been developed to describe the behaviour of lubricating films in natural human hip and knee joints, and especially in their replacements.
