On 7 October 2019, digital twin production cell, and its virtual commissioning, was awarded MSV 2019 Gold Medal at the International Engineering Fair in Brno. The product from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Brno University of Technology, won the prize in the category Innovations in Automation and Industry 4.0. The new technology was presented by the experts from the Institute of Production Machines, Systems and Robotics.

"Data are processed and analysed for subsequent prediction of production capability, testing and optimization of production cell design," explained Jan Vetiška, head of Department of Robots and Robotics at FME BUT.

The designed digital twin can also be used as a remote virtual workplace management tool. The aim of the proposed solution is primarily to reduce the time for preparation of new production, reduce the number of non-conforming workpieces and streamline the maintenance of the production cell, which leads to economic and time savings in its operation.
