Originální abstrakt

Electrophoretic deposition of mono-phase and two-phase (layered) alumina and zir-conia ceramics was studied. Anisotropy of fracture toughness of mono-phase ceramics was found. Fracture toughness in direction parallel with direction of deposition of ceramics par-ticles was lower than in perpendicular direction. Anisotropy of fracture toughness of mono-phase ceramics was reduced by deposition of materials by layers technique. Crack defle-ction on interface of alumina and zirconia in two-phase layered composite was found. Fracture toughness in direction perpendicular to interface of alumina and zirconia layer was 2.5 times higher than in direction parallel with interface of alumina and zirconia layer.
