The purpose of this paper is to inform conference participants of the ongoing activities of the Institute of Transport, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Brno University of Technology, in the area of practical use of the Stirling cycle with heat regeneration during the combined generation of electricity and heat. The above activities have been supported by the second year of a three-year grant provided by the GAČR [Grant Agency of the Czech Republic] reg. No. 101/03/0299, named "Combined Heat And Power (CHP) Micro Plant Based On External Heat Supply Engine". The final objective of this grant project is to design and build an experimental 3 kW Stirling engine, which would combine the production of electricity and heat, using renewable energy sources. The researchers and developers working on the project hereby thank the GAČR for their support.
