Přesnost CNC obráběcího stroje je funkce mnoha geometrických chyb, které se vyskytují v kinematickém řetězci. Mezi 21 geometrických chyb tříosého stroje patří úhlové chyby rotace kolem pohybové osy (naklápění, klopení a natáčení), chyby přímostí, kolmostí os vůči sobě či chyby polohování. Právě chybě najetí do polohy v ose, označované EXX, EYY a EZZ, je věnován vytvořený funkční vzorek. V případě, že je obráběcí stroj vybaven přímým odměřováním polohy, má přesnost lineárního enkodéru významný vliv na chybu najetí do polohy v ose.

The accuracy of a CNC machine tool is a function of many geometric errors that occur in the kinematic chain. The 21 geometric errors of a three-axis machine include angular errors of rotation around the axis of motion (tilting, tilting and turning), errors of straightness, perpendicularity of axes to each other or positioning errors. It is the error of approach to the position in the axis, called EXX, EYY and EZZ, that is devoted to the created functional pattern. If the machine tool is equipped with direct position measurement, the accuracy of the linear encoder has a significant effect on the axis approach error.
