Original abstract

The creation of a trabecular model of cancellous bone (which, in our opinion, is more appropriate) is quite difficult. MicroCT images are indispensable for this case as well as the software for their processing. Authors of this paper developed for this purpose a specialized software called STL Model Creator which works in Matlab platform. The software uses image processing methods in segmentation of cancellous bone images (thresholding). The paper introduces a method of creating of computational model and initial stress-strain analysis utilizing this model is presented as well.

Czech abstract

Vytvořit model geometrie respektující charakter rozmístění trámečků představuje značný problém. Je nutné mít snímky pořízené na mikro CT zařízení a patřičný software sloužící k jejich zpracování. Kolektiv autorů vytvořil unikátní software STL Model Creator napsaný v programovém prostředí Matlab. Program využívá metod zpracování obrazu při segmentaci snímků kostní tkáně (prahování). Snímky kosti jsou pořízeny z oblasti krčku femuru o velikosti 4 x 4 mm. STL Model Creator vyexportuje hotový model ve formátu *.stl, který je možné upravit v programu CATIA. K vytvoření výpočtového modelu byl použit software ANSYS.

English abstract

The creation of a trabecular model of cancellous bone (which, in our opinion, is more appropriate) is quite difficult. MicroCT images are indispensable for this case as well as the software for their processing. Authors of this paper developed for this purpose a specialized software called STL Model Creator which works in Matlab platform.
