Original abstract
The present study focuses on interaction between TiAl melt and ceramic crucibles during vacuum induction melting (VIM) of near-gamma TiAl intermetallic alloys. Two types of crucibles (based on Al2O3 and Y2O3) are considered, some with inner wall coatings. Results suggest that the wall attack can be considerably limited by either using the Y2O3 – based crucibles or or the Al2O3 crucible with suitable coating.

Předkládaná studie je zaměřena na interakce mezi taveninou TiAl a keramickým kelímkem během tavení TiAl intermetalik ve vakuové indukční peci. Používány jsou dva typy kelímků (na základě Al2O3 a Y2O3), některé s povlaky na vnitřním povrchu. Výsledky ukazují, že atak povrchu kelímku může být výrazně omezen užitím kelímku na základě Y2O3 nebo Al2O3 s vhodným povlakem.
