Original abstract

To evaluate the properties of die casting and squeeze casting, sets of mechanical, structural and stress properties were selected, namely tensile strength, yield strength, hardness, velocity of longitudinal ultrasound waves for the determination of E-modulus, microporosity (assessed by image analysis), porosity (established radiographically), specific mass, microstructure, macrostructure, blistering, and residual stress (measured by the strain-gauge method and radiographically). Based on the processing of these data, the advantages and disadvantages of the two types of casting were assessed with respect to castings for automotive industry.
